At Fairland, we have offered sports and leisure centre refurbishment for many years. The November lockdown forced the closure of indoor leisure activities for the second time in 2020. But many businesses used the time to implement additional safety measures against COVID-19. This has meant they are well and truly ready to welcome back customers in the run-up to Christmas. During this time it gave us great pleasure to work with the UK’s largest ten-pin bowling operator, Hollywood Bowl. We carried out bespoke works at the London O2 Hollywood Bowl plus other locations across South-East England.
Sports and Leisure Centre Refurbishment for The Hollywood Bowl Group:
The Government’s new tier system is now in force. Sadly, this means many indoor entertainment venues will remain closed if they are in the highest tier 3 location in the country. Hollywood Bowl centres in tier 3 locations will stay shut until the next tier announcement in December. Furthermore, centres in Scotland also remain temporarily closed until further notice.
The UK’s largest ten-pin bowling operator, Hollywood Bowl, has over 60 indoor ten-pin bowling centres across the UK. The new tier restrictions will have a huge impact on the business. The good news is that approximately half of the centres are in tier 2 and are re-opening following the lockdown. And, our works will ensure that some of those that can open will do so with further safety measures in place.
Above all, the Hollywood Bowl Group commits to the health and safety of its customers and employees. As such, the business continues to invest significantly in new safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in its popular indoor bowling venues.
What we did:
Working in collaboration with Play Design Consultants, Fairland Contractors were asked to develop a bespoke screening solution. Our brief was to install this at eight Hollywood Bowl centres across South-East England, including the prestigious London O2 venue. The aim was to supply partitions between the bowling lanes for customers to maintain social distance.
All eight centres have interior style variations. But, as specialists in sports and leisure centre refurbishment, we were delighted to take on the challenge. We designed individual screen units for each of the centres. They needed to reflect the different seating configurations and colours of existing fixtures. Fairland’s bespoke joinery solution consists of solid and stable units designed to fit over the banquet seating and tables. Further, they incorporated clear screens printed with dynamic graphics consistent with the Hollywood Bowl brand. As well as providing extra separation between bowling lanes, the units are fitted with hand sanitisers to provide even more protection for customers.
Working within a tight time-frame of the November lockdown, we produced the bespoke screening units. We installed them at nine Hollywood Bowl centres, including the London O2, one of the UK’s premier entertainment venues. For those bowling centres now open for the festive period, customers will be able to have fun and play more safely.
